The property market in the UK has been the busiest it’s been for a while now. Mostly contributed by home buyers keen on taking advantage of the stamp duty holiday which is set to end on 31st of March.
Until the 31st of March 2021, people completing a home purchase worth less than £500,000 in England and Northern Ireland will be exempted from stamp duty while houses worth more than that will only be taxed on the value above that amount. Saving home buyers up to £15,000!
Despite the pandemic, people are still keen to move home. During lockdown, many discovered that by spending more time at home, they had a need/want for more space (a garden or a home office, perhaps) … while some people are being forced to downsize to cut down on monthly expenditures.
How long does a sale purchase take?
The average timeline of a property purchase in the UK is 12 weeks but with various unseen delays it can takes up to 20 weeks! But with the stamp duty cut-off date fast approaching… what happens when home buyers don’t meet the deadline?
